We are looking for the next Pastor to shepherd our congregation. Might that be you? Take a look at the vision statement and the job description cited below to see if the Holy Spirit may be speaking to you about possibly coming to Calvary. We’d love to talk with you if you have any interests in considering the pastorate here.
Vision Statement
With 152 years of faithful history behind us, the people of Calvary Lutheran Church are looking to the future. We want to be known in our area as a congregation of Jesus-loving people who worship well, teach the faith to our children, youth, and adults, serve our communities as Christ would, support missionaries who represent Jesus abroad, challenge ourselves with new Gospel-sharing opportunities, including developing a stronger music ministry–and live in the joy of the Lord as we do all these things! We continue to look to the Holy Spirit for guidance, working through our future pastor and ministry staff. When those outside of our congregation hear of Calvary, we want them to think, “There’s a group of people blessed by God who, in turn, are a
blessing to our whole area—and maybe even the world!” And we want them to join us!
Job Description
for the Pastor of Calvary Lutheran Church
We realize our expectations for our next pastor are high but, nevertheless, these are our hopes…
• A Jesus-loving leader who preaches and teaches the Gospel faithfully and enthusiastically
•A shepherd who loves his/her flock, and demonstrates that in various ways
• An ongoing student of the Bible who values the Word as authoritative and wonderful
•A pastor who values and practices prayer, and encourages us to do the same
• A self-starter who not only walks alongside his/her people but leads them boldly into ever more faithful ministries
• A spiritual coach who endeavors to raise up additional partners in the Gospel for service both at Calvary and in the broader Church
• Someone who knows and values Lutheran theology—or is willing to learn
• A Christ-like leader who can help recruit, oversee and shape other leaders (paid and volunteer) as new ministries are developed.
• A pastor who lives, if not in the parsonage next door, at least in the nearby area; we do not want a commuting pastor
• Someone who recognizes his/her own weaknesses and is willing to delegate to others
• A leader who takes care of him/herself so that he/she can minister most effectively
We have high expectations for our next pastor—and we expect him/her to have high expectations
of us! We are not satisfied with the status quo. We want to grow—spiritually, numerically and
in loving service to God and neighbor. Can you help us do that? If you think you might, let’s
talk!
